By Chris Shaw
“The Cowboy Poet”

He was a mountain of a meme;
Tall and proud with perpetual grin.
A spreading smile you wanted to share in,
Loud and proud, yet a great calm
Alone,on the bus, he was one of us-
Joyous, focused to the point of braggadocio
On his “Corner,” with the gentle Edna,
“T” was a picture of congenial soul sharing.
“Bless you, Ma’am and those lovely kids, too–
I know God has lots of love for what you do!”
Yesterday, I beheld a velvet leaved mullein plant
From a tiny shoot, now a titan,
Waving me a silent salute.
I thought of Tyrone and his endless love.
His loss leaves me to grieve;
Yet I’m inspired to move and groove
As he wanted us to– carrying “Word,”
with the help of our always
Gracious Lord!!

(Tyrone K. Murray was interred November 13, Heritage Memorial Cemetery, Waldorf MD.)
